Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

About the Artwork

How is your artwork made?

All of our artwork is created in our design studio in Scotland using two main approaches.
Some designs combine genuine historical paintings, vintage illustrations, or Victorian photographs with modern digital painting techniques, allowing us to introduce animal subjects and artistic details. Other pieces are created entirely digitally by us and are designed to achieve a vintage look without using any historical source material. Each product description clearly explains how that particular artwork was made.

Is your artwork original?

Yes. All designs are original works created or digitally transformed by us and are exclusive to Vintage Panda Designs. While some pieces incorporate historical material that is out of copyright, the final compositions are unique and reimagined through our own digital artistry.

Is all of your artwork animal-themed?

Yes. Animals are central to every piece we create. From fun and whimsical designs
to darker, moodier, gothic or more refined styles, animals are always the focal point of our artwork.

Prints, Materials and Finishes

What kind of paper and finish do you use for your prints?

We offer a range of professional print options, including smooth matte fine art paper, textured matte fine art paper, and lustre (semi-gloss) paper. We also offer framed prints, stretched canvas prints, and framed canvas prints. Full details are available below and in each product listing. If you are looking for a finish or frame colour that isn’t listed, please contact us and we will do our best to help.

Framed Prints

Our framed prints feature a fine art matte print set within a classic wooden frame, ready to hang.

  • Printed using high-quality Giclée printing on museum-quality smooth matte fine art paper
  • Frames are handmade from sustainably sourced wood (approximately 2cm / 20mm wide) with a choice of black or gold satin-laminated finish. Other frame colours are available on request
  • Protective Perspex glaze shields the print from UV light and dust
  • Available in sizes from 8x12" to 24x36" (size refers to the print size; overall framed size is slightly larger)

Note:
While the paper itself has a matte finish, the Perspex glaze may create some reflectivity depending on lighting conditions.

Stretched Canvas Prints

Our stretched canvas prints are produced using 12-colour Giclée museum-quality
printing on 400gsm artist-grade cotton canvas. Each piece is hand-stretched over a 38mm wooden frame and finished with a white edge wrap for a clean, gallery-style look. They arrive ready to hang. Available in sizes from 8x12" to 24x36".

Note:
White edge wrap is standard. Black edges may be available upon request. Please message us before ordering for details.

Framed Canvas Prints

Our framed canvas prints feature a slim 19mm stretched canvas set within a classic wooden frame, ready to hang.

  • Printed on 400gsm artist-grade cotton canvas using museum-quality Giclée printing
  • Stretched over a 19mm wooden stretcher bar
  • Frame handmade from sustainably sourced wood (approximately 2cm / 20mm wide) in black or gold satin-laminated finish. Other frame colours may be available on request
  • No glaze is used, preserving the authentic canvas texture
  • Available in sizes from 8x12" to 24x36" (size refers to the canvas size; overall framed size is slightly larger)

What are your production times?

All our items are made to order. Production times are approximately 1–3 business days
for unframed prints and 3–7 business days for framed prints, stretched canvas, and framed canvas.

Will the artwork be cropped differently in different sizes?

Some minor cropping may occur depending on the size and aspect ratio you choose. We always ensure the main subject and overall composition remain balanced, but edges of the image may vary slightly between formats. If you would like to check how a specific size will look before ordering, feel free to contact us.

Variations between screens and print

Colours may vary slightly between what you see on your screen and the final printed artwork. This is due to differences in screen settings, lighting, and device calibration. We always ensure our prints are true to the original artwork, but appearance can vary slightly from one screen to another.

Packaging and Delivery

How are your prints packaged?

Smaller prints are packaged flat in acid-free protective sleeves and shipped in reinforced, board-backed envelopes. Larger prints are carefully rolled in acid-free tissue and sent in sturdy postage tubes. Framed and canvas prints are shipped directly from our external printing lab in rigid cardboard boxes designed to protect the artwork during transit. This is just a general guide, packaging may vary.

Where do you ship to from your website?

We currently ship from our website to the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia. Customers outside these regions can order worldwide through our Etsy shop.
